The Student Clinic takes place on weekday evenings at the Priory Clinic in Stillorgan, County Dublin. (For students studying in Limerick, there is a Clinic facility located in Limerick City – call us on 1800 254 642 or email clinic@iptas.ie for details).

The Student Clinic is held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings, with reduced cost appointments available to patients between 5.00 pm and 7.00 pm.

The Student Clinic helps develop your practitioner skills from the relatively straightforward musculo-skeletal problems treated in First Year through to autonomous practice with a more complex caseload in your final year. Patients attend with a wide variety of problems, which gives students a good grounding in general practice. Your work in providing assessment and treatment for your patients is conducted with the support of a qualified Clinician.

CLINIC APPOINTMENTS

Student Clinic appointments are available by calling freephone 1 800 254 642. An initial visit usually involves a thorough history taking and assessment followed by a short treatment. Subsequent visits involve a shorter assessment and a more substantial treatment. In the event that a patient needs to change between therapists, the file will be given to the new therapist who will also be fully briefed on the condition. In the interest of both the patient and student we like to keep changes of therapist to a minimum.

VOLUNTEERS

From time to time during the year, volunteer 'models' are required by the College for student exams.  This means being available for an hour in the Priory Clinic on a Saturday or Sunday.  These exams take the form of a supervised consultation between you, one student and a supervising examiner. The exam can last up to an hour and usually finishes with a short treatment. Individuals who volunteer as models are offered the gift of a free treatment at our Student Clinic as a token of thanks for their support.
