We regret to announce that the Professional Diploma in Sports Therapy & Rehabilitation and the Professional Diploma in Manual Therapy & Rehabilitation will no longer be taking place. Multiple factors have led to this decision.
In 2016, the then Minister for Health, Leo Varadkar, announced that IPTAS students undertaking the 3-year Physical Therapy programme would need to graduate by 2019 to protect their right to use the title Physical Therapist. This effectively brought an end to the training of physical therapists in Ireland.
The plan was to continue to offer the programme under a different name. One of the key strengths of the curriculum is a comprehensive clinical practice programme that prepares students to practice immediately upon graduation. This part of the course requires significant resources. Unfortunately, new applicant numbers are insufficient to enable the college to continue to provide this facility after 2019. We have therefore decided to close enrolment for these courses.
This does not effect the current IPTAS Physical Therapy programme. If you have any questions, please contact IPTAS admissions on 01 283 5566.
