Students on our course progress by taking and passing individual modules, or units of study.
Three years is the minimum period of time required to graduate with the B.Sc. However, you can also choose to spread your study over a longer period. Gaining a qualification through an extended pathway mode is an increasingly popular option, and for good reason. The flexible structure of our programme allows you to tailor the course to meet your needs and it enables you to adapt your pace of study to changing personal circumstances.
Our flexible study options will help you in a number of ways:
- to remain in employment while you study
- to finance your own study
- to spread the costs over a longer period
- to fit your studies around family and work commitments
- to ease back in to learning if you have been out of education for a while
- to gain credit or exemptions on previous certified or experiential learning
If you are returning to study, are unsure about making too big a commitment or about the workload in your first year, you can opt to take a reduced number of modules in your first year. This will facilitate a gradual return to study.
STUDENT CENTRED APPROACH
At the Institute we use a wide variety of teaching and learning approaches including
lectures and practical activities, peer group learning, self-directed study, tutorials and seminars
and attendance at one of the College’s teaching clinics. We focus on helping you identify and
address your individual learning needs and throughout your time with us you are supported and guided
by a Tutor in this. This module is designed to prepare you for your journey as a lifelong learner
through your professional career.
The student teacher ratio in practical class is usually as low as one to four, which
ensures that you always have tableside assistance and support when practising techniques.
